What I did do, is used IKEA's kitchen planner to do up the kitchen layout as they have proposed.
As you can see, it's a classic L-type layout. Don't mind the colors as I haven't decided on what to use yet. But it'll probably be something light in color. The 2 boxes on the right are the washing machine and dryer, and the big box on the left is the refridgerator.
The empty space in the middle is about 2.5m wide. I did consider an Island-type layout but everything ended up very cramped so I guess I have to ditch that idea. This is probably very close to what I would be having for my kitchen.
If all this talk about L-type, Island-type layout sounds confusing, no worries. I'll be making a post soon on the different types of layout commonly used for kitchens.
I'm a convert of the drawers versus open shelves for the base cabinet. The thing to decide next is if I want Blum, Hettich or some other soft-closing, full extension drawers. It'll likely boil down to the extras I need to fork out for it.
One other thing I opted out will probably be the dish-drainer underneath the cabinet over the sink. I don't like the how small it is so I'll be going for a dish drying rack next to the sink.
